As part of the United Nations Millenium Development Goals, the Kingdoms of Kerry and Lesotho are involved in a twinning project to aid development and exchange culture. ‘The Waterville Friends of Lesotho’ group was set up in February 2007. A group of interested people got together to form a support group to forge links with a village in Lesotho and to work directly with the village committee.
The most recent project involves the funding of a Landrover full of school supplies etc which will be driven to Lesotho.
To this end local man Tony mcGillicuddy along with Eoin Kiely, who resides in Ballinskelligs, undertook the challenge of swimming from Ballinskelligs pier to Waterville in order to help with the fund raising. The five mile swim took two and a half hours approximately, in less than ideal conditions. Well done to these two athletes for their mammoth effort All sponsorship money is not yet in so if you'd like to help send your contribution to Tony Mac, Spunkane. All donations welcome.

Mayo 3-13 ......... Kerry 1-09
The county minor team never rose to their true potential in the All Ireland semi-final replay against Mayo. There can be no excuses since Mayo were rmpant right throughout the pitch.
Hard luck to Brendy Donnelly (Selector) and Niall O'Shea (Panel member).
Seniors:Kerry 3-14 ... Cork 2-13
The seniors finally overcame Cork in the senior replay. Again the game was won early in the game but Cork stuck to their task and with about five minutes left the game was level. The introduction of Darren O'Sullivan and Brian Moran set up Colm Cooper for a crucial goal and Kerry went on to win by four points. Overall Kerry were far superior but again the failure to press home their advantage is worrying.
